Welcome to the homepage of the Bioeconomy Science Hub.

Here you will soon find information on the topic of bioeconomy in Hohenheim and beyond.

The aim of the Bioeconomy Science Hub is to connect scientists and areas of bioeconomy at the University of Hohenheim with each other and with other national and international partners, such as the European Bioeconomy University (EBU). The interdisciplinary exchange is intended to support initiatives in research and teaching. Strong partnerships increase the chances of success when applying for multi- or interdisciplinary project consortia.

Through the continuous development of networking-supporting building blocks, a format tailored to Hohenheim will be established, which will also allow the Hohenheim Bioeconomy Science Hub to supplement and open up suitable cooperation formats for external stakeholders and networking partners.

In addition, those interested in the bioeconomy can find a wealth of information and learning materials on the topic of the bioeconomy in the Education Center, which can be used for various internal and external target groups.

The University of Hohenheim at the State Garden Show

“Everyday Topics That Involve a Lot of Research” at the Ellwangen State Garden Show

A store shelf groans under the weight of groceries; futuristic honeycomb structures display food from a 3D printer and Maultaschen made from brewer’s yeast; on pedestals stand models of orchard meadows and biogas plants; and in between, an office workstation. On clearly laid-out information panels, every object in the compact exhibition by the University of Hohenheim at the Ellwangen State Garden Show tells a story. And they all have to do with research. The exhibition runs from May 20 to 31, 2026. It opened on the first day at 11 a.m. with a press tour led by University Rector Prof. Dr. Christoph Schneider and the deans of the University of Hohenheim. (Click here for the full press release.)

Come by and get an overview of cutting-edge research and what the bioeconomy is already capable of achieving today.
